A man has been arrested by police after allegedly throwing what is suspected to be shotgun cartridges into the grounds of Buckingham Palace.
The man was arrested outside the palace grounds at around 7 pm after he allegedly approached the gates and threw items.
A controlled demolition was also carried out outside the location after the man was suspected of carrying an offensive weapon.
Chief Superintendent Joseph McDonald said: “Officers worked immediately to detain the man and he has been taken into police custody.
“There have been no reports of any shots fired, or any injuries to officers or members of the public.
“Officers remain at the scene and further enquiries are ongoing.”
Neither the King nor the Queen were at the palace at the time the arrest was made with Buckingham Palace declining to comment on the incident.
