BBC presenter Gary Lineker has apologised to football fans as BBC iPlayer goes down during England's World Cup opening match.
The outage recording website Down Detector reported that iPlayer was having issues from around 1 pm on Monday afternoon.
Fans watching the match took to social media to share their issues as one wrote: "Seriously?!… BBC iPlayer has gone down!?"
Whilst another wrote: "Imagine BBC iPlayer going down when the world cup is on, England no less.. do better lads, I literally have to watch it through a Belgian TV app now."

The BBC presenter commented on the outage on air, saying:“Apologies if you’ve had any iPlayer difficulties in that first half, we’re working to fix them”.
