Bexley's Butterfly Jungles has become the latest casualty of the Covid-19 lockdown, and has announced it has permanently closed its doors and shut down permanently.

The director Paul Allen has announced that, "with great sadness, I have to confirm we haven't survived as a business through the Covid-19 crisis."

Butterfly Jungles Experience and Garden Plant Centre was a tropical butterfly attraction and plant centre located in the grounds of Hall Place in Crayford, Bexley.

The site offered visitors the chance to see flying tropical butterflies in a mini rainforest, and was a staple in the local community.

The jungle was forced to close on March 23 following the enforcement of the UK Covid-19 lockdown, and has been fundraising to try and replace missing revenue during the last few months.

In a statement, Mr Allen said: "We, collectively, our amazing Staff, our superb Volunteers and our wonderful visitors tried everything to get through this and I would like to thank each and every one of you for your incredible support.

I hope the butterflies bought some sunshine into your lives as they did ours, and your plants are thriving in your gardens. Hopefully they will be a reminder of something good for many years!
