A MUM who stored weapons for gang members has been jailed for five years.

Jadeine Mills, 21, of Hall Lane in Chingford, kept an assault rifle, two handguns and ammunition hidden in her house, where she lived with her five-year-old son, on behalf of "violent" gangsters.

Police discovered the stash of firearms when they raided the house in a crime crackdown back in May, before arresting Mills when she entered the house with her young boy as police lay in wait.

They found a rucksack on top of a wardrobe containing an assault rifle with three magazines and two condoms stuffed with bullets, while two other bags contained the handguns.

She pleaded guilty to three counts of possession of a firearm and two counts of possessing ammunition at Snaresbrook Crown Court before being sentenced today (October 1).

Detective Inspector Chris Jones, from Trident, the section of the Met which investigates gang crime, said: "Jadeine Mills, acting as weapons custodian for other violent individuals, has shown a complete disregard for the distress and harm caused to victims and families of such crime.

"This case should remind those who willingly look after firearms for others of the significant consequences to be paid and longer term impact to their future.

"Operation Trident is committed to removing such firearms from London's communities."
