WITNESSES have spoken of the scenes which followed a fatal motorbike crash in West Wickham.
Emergency services including one ambulance crew and the London Air Ambulance were called to Wickham Court Road at 4.52pm yesterday to reports of an incident involving a Yamaha motorcycle.
The 19-year-old rider of the motorcycle was pronounced dead at the scene at 5.30pm.
Officers believe they have identified the rider and next of kin have been informed but they await formal identification.
Bromley Council worker Andy Piggins, who cleaned the road after the accident, said: “It was a bit of a grisly scene.
“There was money stuck to the tarmac and also you could see blood stains.”
Reginald Thompson, of Wickham Court Road, who saw the scene immediately afterwards, said: “I think there should be speed cameras because the traffic goes down this road at such a speed.”
Neighbour Joan Bruck agrees, saying there are always accidents along the road.
She said: “I think there should be warning signs further up because there are always crashes along this part of the road.
“But the emergency services were great, they came almost instantly.”
A post-mortem examination will take place at the Princess Royal Hospital in due course.
Officers from the collision investigation unit at Catford are leading the enquiry and are appealing for witnesses to call 020 8285 1574.
