BEXLEY pensioners celebrated the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee with an elegant tea dance.

Held at the picturesque Boat House in Danson Park, hundreds took to the dance floor to music performed by a live quartet band while others waved Union Jacks from the sidelines.

The event, which was arranged by L and Q Housing Association, was officially opened by the Mayor of Bexley, Councillor Alan Downing on August 23.

Doreen Frost, 78, from Bexley, said: “It’s really nice to see how everyone is coming together to enjoy themselves.

“I had an absolutely fantastic and fun day out and it would be lovely to have more events like this in the future. “ Cllr Downing added: “My wife and I had a lovely time talking and dancing with the residents and the location was just beautiful.”
