THIEVES have made off with more than 130 brand new laptops and iPads which had just been bought for pupils of a Blackheath school.
John Roan School had recently kitted itself out with state-of-the-art technology when the burglary took place on the evening of August 16.
There were 65 HP laptops, 65 iPads and seven Samsung Netbooks stolen in the break-in, which police say are likely to be sold via the internet, pawn shops or unsuspecting people.
Police are appealing for information and say the items have a distinctive ‘capita’ tag which can help identify them.
Officer in the case, DC Karl Buckwell said: "The items stolen amount to a significant value and are likely to be sold either via the Internet, pawn shops or to people who are unaware that they are buying stolen goods.
"If you saw or heard anything suspicious on the day of the burglary please contact us.
"Perhaps you may have come across someone who has recently been trying to sell a large number of electrical items at significantly reduced prices and have become suspicious.
"All items have a distinctive 'capita' tag which cannot be removed."
Anyone with information should ring DC Karl Buckwell, Plumstead Police Station, Burglary Squad on 020 8284 9449.
