FOLLOWING Team GB’s canoeing success at London 2012, budding canoeists in Bexley are being offered the chance to have a go.
Bexleyheath-based Meridian Canoe Club is hosting six-hour beginner’s courses at Danson Lake - inside Danson Park - on September 8 and 9.
For those unsure whether canoeing could be the new sport for them, the club is also offering taster sessions at 10am every Saturday in September.
Club secretary Derek Playford said: “We are one of the largest paddle sport clubs in London and we compete regularly in the Olympic disciplines of canoe slalom and flat water racing.”
The club, which trains at both Danson Lake and Crook Log Leisure Centre, boasts a fleet of 150 canoes and kayaks.
The beginner’s course – available to anyone older than eight - runs between 10am and 4pm on both days and costs £25 per person.
