BOYS and girls in Greenhithe must have been really good so far this year, because Christmas has come early.
The town’s Asda is one of just 17 of the firm’s 544 stores to have a temporary Santa’s grotto – a full four months before the big day.
Even though the kids have not returned from their summer holidays, the retailer is ramping up the festive spirit to plug its Christmas Savings card, with its research showing that almost half of mums are more worried about Christmas this year than they were last year and that 93 per cent are already stocking up on gifts.
But the grotto will not last long – Santa’s sleigh is due to depart again on Saturday.
An Asda spokesman said: “The grotto is just a bit of fun in a few of our stores this week as part of promotion for our Christmas savings card.
“We know that customers are already saving for Christmas so our savings card is an easy way for them to put a little bit away each week to budget for the main event.
“It’s a little bit of fun, and as mums are already starting to think about saving for Christmas, they are really pleased we are too.”
