LEWISHAM residents are highlighting the positive side of their estate by hosting a mini-Olympics day.
The Honor Oak Estate has been in the spotlight for crime in the past but residents now want to celebrate their community and bring it together through sport.
There will be Zumba classes, roller-skating, basketball, football, back-to-school races, inflatable activities and seated exercises for older people.
An opening ceremony will kick-start the sporting fun and people can also enjoy a massage, a food spread, or pedalling to create a drink on the "Groovy Smoothie" bike.
The free event, which is organised by Honor Oak Tenants and Residents Association (HOTRA), will take place on September 15 in Turnham Road from 12.30pm to 5pm.
HOTRA’s Chairman Tanika Lothian said: "The event is aimed at bringing all members of the community together whilst at the same time highlighting healthy living and lifestyle choices.
"The Honor Oak Estate has recent and historic bad press for being a notorious crime hotspot, with this in mind members of our community are fighting back to bring out the positives."
