MORE than 300 youngsters will celebrate the end of summer by parading lanterns through the streets of Gravesend.
The Gravesham Festival of Light will see pupils from nine schools march through the town on September 7, before arriving at the Riverside Leisure Area to a spectacular staged light show.
Marking the climax of the Paralympic Games, there will also be musical performances on the bandstand in Fort Gardens between 6pm and 7pm.
Each student participating will be presented with a medal by the Mayor of Gravesham, Councillor Lyn Milner.
Director of Kent Equality Cohesion Council – who are organising the event - Gurvinder Sandher said: “We’ve had a great British summer and I hope as many people as possible will come and support us.
“It’s important we use events such as the Diamond Jubilee, the Olympics and the Paralympics to come together as one and celebrate what makes us British.”
Students from Riverview Junior, St John’s Primary and Dover Road Primary are among those taking part.
