USING words to paint a poetic picture of your town could win you a thousand pounds.
Residents are invited to write a prize winning poem about life where they live for the annual United Press competition.
Entry is free and up to three entries can be entered per person.
All entries must be no more than 25 lines and 160 words each.
A spokesman for United Press, which runs the competition, said: “The competition is designed to encourage more people to get involved in writing poetry.
“Your entry can be about something or someone from your home area.”
