A FREE course is being offered by a Bromley-based harmony group to encourage more men to sing.
One member used to commute 75 miles to the group’s rehearsals in Orpington after working twelve hour shifts, because he loved the singing club so much.
The Bromley Kentones Chorus is starting the six week programme, funded by the Arts Council, in October.
Peter Aylett, 75 , said: "When I first joined The Kentones I was living in Deal, 75 miles away, and was a security guard on the Channel Tunnel project, working twelve hour shifts."
Mr Aylett commuted for five years before coming to live in Orpington, in Warren Road, to live among the many friends he had made from the Kentones.
He said: "I love Barbershop harmony and the friendship that generates from it."
The one hour sessions on Thursday evenings will give an introduction to sheet music and singing in a four part harmony with a chance to join in with the Kentones’ rehearsals afterwards.
It is based at St Paul's Church Hall, in Crofton Road, Orpington.
