A CLUB for African Caribbean older people has received a brand new mini bus with money donated from Bromley Council.
The vehicle used previously by the Pineapple Club, based in Anerley, was parked in a neighbouring borough last summer and suffered damage during the riots.
Having a dedicated mini bus enables members to meet up with each other and go out for day trips.
Distraught club members raised £10,000 themselves and then the council stepped in to match the funding with money from the Community Fund.
Councillor Stephen Carr, Leader of Bromley Council, said: "Bromley’s Full Council agreed that we would set aside a community fund for just this sort of situation.
"Today has been a marvellous outcome.
"I know that the community will make good use of the vehicle for many years to come."
