THE FAMILY of a baby from Gravesend who was born with a rare disease are taking part in a charity fun run in aid of the children’s hospice which looked after him.
Harry Woodgate, from Dickens Road, is 15 months old and has a neurological condition called microcephaly as well as severe epilepsy meaning he needs regular medication and oxygen.
He can have up to 50 seizures a day and is fed through a tube in his stomach. The family have to have night carers as Harry cannot be left on his own.
Harry’s mum Samantha Warwicker, dad Dean Woodgate, aunt Emma Warwicker and her mother-in-law Lynda Ferrari, are all entering the Demelza Run next month.
After he turned five months old Harry spent time at Demelza’s hospice in Eltham having moved there from Evelina children’s hospital in central London.
His aunt Emma said: "Demelza have been a great help, you can’t fault them. They are always at the end of the phone."
The Demelza Run takes place at Mote Park in Maidstone on Sunday September 16 from 10am with 5km and 10km options.
Entry is £15 per person which includes a t-shirt and a medal. Book your place at demelza.org.uk or call 01795 845288.
