FOLLOWING Bradley Wiggins’ successes at the Tour de France and Olympics, Kent Police is reminding cyclists to stay safe on their bikes.
Officers held a safety morning at Cyclopark in Gravesend to offer help and advice on what people can do to cycle safely and also give cyclists the opportunity to security mark their property.
The Force works closely with Kent County Council and the Kent and Medway Camera Safety Partnership to monitor problems and to promote road safety to reduce the number of incidents.
Roads policing officers are on patrol every day to enforce the law and intervene with speeding motorists, drivers using mobile phones and motorists driving dangerously.
Kent Police is also working to tackle an increase in the theft of pedal cycles which rose by 6.4 per cent or 123 offences in the year from April 2011 to March 2012 compared to the previous year.
Officers are promoting the Stay Safe messages and in some places have organised cycle marking to boost security and help deter thieves.
