EXPERIENCED police officers have launched a new team to tackle crime directly across Bexley.
The Bexley Police Proactive Crime Team was set up at the start of August, initially to deal with a small spike in the number of burglaries in the same street.
Since its launch the team has seized more than £600 of drugs, collected more than £2,000 proceeds of crime cash and detained 10 prisoners.
One person was charged with intent to supply class-A drugs while another has been charged with aggravated burglary.
Detective Chief Inspector Gary Holmes, who organised the team, said: “The Proactive Crime Team has been formed to target anyone in Bexley who is involved in committing burglaries, or any other crime which may pose a significant threat to public safety.
“The team comprises officers who possess the relevant skills and experience to target criminals in the most effective way - by taking the fight directly to them and locking them up.”
