GREEN fingered residents are being invited to grow their own food.
Bexley Council has a small amount of vacant allotment sites available for leasing in Sidcup, Welling and Erith.
Cabinet member for environment, Councillor Gareth Bacon, said: "Allotments are a great hobby for all the family; young or old.
"It's cheap, you get plenty of exercise without having to go to a gym and you get to eat home grown, healthy fruit and vegetables which are full of flavour."
He added: "Many of our allotment sites are their own little communities, with tenants arranging get togethers and BBQs and even sharing out their produce amongst others plot holders.
"Some sites even have many generations of the same family renting plots."
Allotments are rented for a small annual charge based on the size of the allotment.
