A WORLD famous Punjabi singer performed in Gravesend on Saturday as part of a popular community festival.
Thousands flocked to the Community Mela Festival, at Fort Gardens, on Saturday (August 18) to enjoy a set performed by Jazzy B, who is known by fans as the Crown Prince of Bhangra.
Held on one of the hottest days of the year, crowds also enjoyed performances by a number of other upcoming musical artistes.
Kent Equality Cohesion Council director and event organiser Gurvinder Sandher said: “We had a range of different emerging acts some of whom were north Kent based and the headline act as ever Jazzy B did an excellent show really energising the crowd.
“I believe the Mela was an excellent showcase for some new exciting acts that are emerging and the feedback I have had already via social media has been positive.”
Following Jazzy B’s show, Gurvinder Sandher thanked the musician for bringing Gravesend’s communities together through music.
Thirty-seven-year-old Jazzy B, who has released 12 albums, said: “Without my fans I am nothing and as ever the community of Gravesend came out to support myself and the other artists that were performing at this fantastic community celebration.
“It was good to see so many people of different ages enjoying the music and the great
weather in Gravesend.”
