POLICE in Greenwich have used Twitter to track down and thank a heroic man who rugby-tackled a suspect to the ground.
Officers were called to Oxleas Woods at 10am today (August 20) after a dog walker was punched in the face.
As a suspect ran off through the woods, he was chased by a police officer but it was a member of the public walking nearby who stopped the suspect, rugby-tackling him.
The officers who responded to the call arrested a total of three people for assault and one of the three for assault and theft.
A 17-year-old boy has now been charged with theft and assault.
Greenwich police tweeted for help today in finding the man who had come to their aid, and, thanks to Twitter users, managed to trace him in around half an hour.
