A 48-YEAR-OLD woman has been given an ASBO after a string of drunk and abusive offences which police say “brought misery” to Lewisham.
The three-year order was handed to Ann Duberry, of Kings Street, Deptford, after repeat violent behaviour including spitting at a security guard at Catford Library.
Ms Duberry is notorious in the Rushey Green area for swearing, shouting, and lashing out at staff, as well as damaging property.
The anti-social behaviour order was granted on August 16 at Bromley Magistrates’ Court following a conviction for criminal damage of a shop window in Rushey Green in February.
The ASBO prohibits Ms Duberry from being drunk in Lewisham and Greenwich and includes causing annoyance to customers or staff members from premises where the public is served.
It will expire on August 16 in 2015 and the public are asked to contact Lewisham Police if she is seen breaking the order.
A Lewisham police spokesman said: “Lewisham Police and Lewisham Council have been successful in obtaining an anti-social behaviour order (ASBO) against a 48-year-old woman whose persistent drunken, abusive and violent behaviour has brought misery to the lives of people who live and work in the borough.”
Police Sergeant Michelle Pryal of the Rushey Green Safer Neighbourhoods Team says Duberry has a long history of such behaviour and has not accepted offers of help.
Lewisham Council run a support team to help those with long-term alcohol and drug dependency.
