COUNTRY park visitors will get a trip through history and learn about the life of Sir John Lubbock on the day he is responsible for.
The MP, and biologist who was a friend of Charles Darwin, was responsible for bringing in the August Bank Holiday in 1871 and on that public holiday this year (August 27) there is a celebratory event at High Elms Country Park.
From 12pm to 4pm there will be marquees set up on the lawns with displays about the park, off Shire Lane, Farnborough.
And at 1pm and 3pm there will be tours through Lubbock’s landscape.
Everyone is welcome but the guided tours need to be booked in advance by calling 01689 862815.
