Greenwich & Bexley Community Hospice has received over £6,000 from the Axis Foundation to purchase Syringe Drivers, specialist devices used to administer medicines to patients for pain management and symptom control.
Syringe drivers are a key piece of equipment used by the Hospice’s nurses in their day-to-day care. It is a small battery powered pump, which can be carried by the patient, and releases medicine slowly, safely and effectively under the skin, providing ongoing relief from pain and other distressing symptoms.
The Axis Foundation’s donation will purchase six new model syringe drivers, which will enhance patient safety and comfort for many years to come.
“The Axis Foundation aims to support local causes that make a meaningful and lasting difference to the communities that Axis work within,” said Axis Foundation Chairman Peter Varney.
“Anyone who has called upon the support and care of Greenwich & Bexley Community Hospice and their staff will advocate what a worthy cause this is.”
