WHAT a patty - Woolwich will not be getting a new Drive-thru McDonalds after all.
More than 1,000 people had signed a petition at the current Woolwich branch to show their support for the planned branch at Church Street.
The new store would have been built on a vacant industial site, and open 24 hours a day.
But people living nearby were not so excited by the thought of increased noise and traffic in the area.
And a Greenwich Council planning committee was also unenthusiastic, turning down the application because it would take up an area of land specified for industrial use.
Woolwich is seen as the Big Mac's spiritual home, with its Powis Street branch the first one in the UK.
