A PUB which became synonymous with an IRA bombing is to be demolished and rebuilt.
The King's Arms in Frances Street, Woolwich, was a popular boozer but will always be best known for the day in 1974 when a bomb was thrown through its window, killing a gunner from the Royal Artillery and a sales clerk.
Now plans have been approved for the four-storey building, which dates back to the 1950s, to be knocked down and replaced with a brand new pub featuring 12 one to three bedroom flats on the upper floors.
The new pub development, by the Kent and Sssex Properties company, will also feature 10 parking spaces.
A Greenwich Council planning committee approved the plans this week under the condition that it included a plaque commemorating the original pub and its history.
