A POPULAR train route could be cut in half by transport chiefs under new proposals.
The change could see trains on the Sevenoaks to Bedford service, which passes through Catford, Bromley South and Swanley, terminate at Blackfriars rather than continue northwards.
It is just one of several routes running through Elephant and Castle which could be affected from 2018 by reductions to the numbers of trains which can use the Thameslink route.
The proposal is contained in a Department for Transport consultation over a shake-up of rail franchises in London.
Under the plans, a new franchise will bring together services operated by First Capital Connect, Southern and some Southeastern services.
