ORPINGTON MP Jo Johnson endorsed a new initiative encouraging local purchasing power on August 10.
The scheme, run by My Loyalty Card, offers discounts with an aim to draw consumers back into the High Street in Orpington.
It has proved popular with shoppers keen to access the exclusive discounts.
Traders were out in force at the event to discuss the advantages of the card.
Duty manager of the Harvest Moon, Collette Murray, said the card was already a hit with many customers at the pub.
Mr Johnson said the initiative, run by Bromley Council and sponsors Walnuts shopping centre and Orpington Business Forum, was a great idea to increase footfall on the high street.
He said: "Schemes like this play a valuable part in supporting local businesses.
I urge businesses to sign up and I urge residents in Orpington to take full advantage of this."
Stuart Hopkins, from My Loyalty Cards, said: "A lot of business in Orpington have embraced it and already taken part. Not just independent retailers but big national brands too.
"People need an incentive to be dragged away from online shopping and this is just one of many projects that help with High Streets."
