A CRAYFORD woman has been fined £100 for dumping 14 bags of rubbish on a footpath.

Nicola Crone, of Maiden Lane, pleaded guilty at Bromley Magistrates' Court on August 3 to contravening the Environmental Protection Act 1990.

The 31-year-old dumped the bags full of general domestic waste on a footpath between Thames Road and Maiden Lane in February.

Crone was fined £100 and ordered to pay £385 costs and a £15 victim surcharge.

Bexley Council's cabinet member for the environment, Councillor Gareth Bacon, said: "Let this be a strong message to anyone else thinking of doing something similar.

"Mrs Crone's home is less than a mile from the council's largest reuse and recycling centre in Thames Road.

"We provide one of the best waste and recycling services in the country - I fail to see there is any excuse for this sort of behaviour.

"The vast majority of our residents take pride in their community and work hard to keep it clean and tidy. Why should one person come along and ruin that for so many?"
