THIRTY budding athletes battled it out in a sports day organised by a Sidcup cardiac support group.
The sun shone as members of the Ace of Hearts Cardiac Support Group competed in the day of sporting fun, held on Wednesday (August 8) in the grounds of Sunrise care home, in Frognal Avenue.
Sports included shot put, an obstacle relay course and racquetball.
Motivational speaker Kevin May – a rugby player who survived a heart transplant and competed in last year’s British Transplant Games – also talked to members.
Healthy living and exercise specialist, Amanda Mitchell, said: “Families of cardiac victims joined in the fun and there was a presentation at the end where all participants received a medal for efforts and good sportsmanship.
“Members enjoyed their picnics in the glorious weather and felt welcomed by the committee team who supported and helped with the organisation of this special event.”
The Ace of Hearts support group, which was launched in March, runs monthly meetings to support people who have suffered from cardio vascular conditions.
