THE LIFTS at Swanley railway station have been upgraded in time for the Paralympic Games in September.
Part of a multi-million pound station makeover, the new lifts will provide improved access for disabled passengers passing through the station, which is off Goldsel Road.
With the Paralympic road cycling events being staged at Brands Hatch on September 5 to 8, an increase in passenger numbers is expected.
Further improvements are planned by Network Rail for the station later in the year, including the refurbishment of the ticket office and toilet facilities, as well as 30 new cycling spaces.
Network Rail route managing director for Kent Fiona Taylor said: “Since Brands Hatch was announced as the cycling venue, we have worked hard to deliver better access at Swanley station.
“The lifts will make a big difference during the games as well as to the daily travel experience of thousands of passengers for many years to come.”
