OFFICERS are appealing for the public’s help after a woman was covered in ‘urine’ on a train as she waited for it to leave Plumstead station.

The unsuspecting victim had taken a seat beneath an open window of the 8.46pm Plumstead to Greenwich service when a man dropped a bottle containing liquid through the window on to her.

She felt a liquid run from her head down to her clothes and recognised the smell to be urine.

The horrified woman seized the bottle, which is believed to have contained urine, and later handed it in to police.

British Transport Police (BTP) has carried out a number of enquiries to try and identify the man responsible for the incident, which happened on May 24, including speaking to witnesses and circulating images on police intelligence systems.

But it has had no luck so far so investigating officer PC Tracy Mesher is appealing to the public for help in identifying the man who is in the CCTV image.

PC Mesher said: “This was a sickening experience for the victim, who was understandably left upset by what happened to her.

“We would like to speak to the man pictured as we believe he may be able to help us with our enquiries into this incident.

“Do you know the man?

“Are you the man himself?

“If so, please contact us, we want to hear from you.”

Anyone with information is asked to call the BTP on 0800 40 50 40 quoting reference B2/LSA of 11/08/12.

Alternatively, contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
