PENSIONERS in Gravesend have told members of the Kent Police Authority (KPA) their biggest concern is feeling unsafe in the early evenings.
Members of KPA stopped off at the Day Care Centre, in Clarence Row, to consult with elderly people about their views on policing.
Their visit also highlighted that older people would feel safer if there were more police officers on the streets.
It was put forward that more contact with a local police community support officer would be welcomed too.
Chief Executive of KPA Graham Hooper said: “We need to find out what really matters to elderly – they are a bespoke group in society and they too have policing needs.
“Our aim is to find out what the police could be doing to provide a better service.”
The visit to Gravesend by the KPA - an independent body that oversees the work of Kent Police – is part of a countywide consultation with members of the public.
