FINANCIALLY-disadvantaged Thamesmead homeowners can now seek help from a new service launched by charity Trust Thamesmead.


Two advisors will now be on hand at the charity’s offices in Joyce Dawson Way as part of the Fair Finance service launched on Wednesday (August 8).


Advice will be offered by the experts on subjects including rent arrears, debt counselling, bills and loans.


Erith and Thamesmead MP Teresa Pearce, who was at the launch, said: “I often get people coming to my surgeries talking about their debt problems, saying they can’t afford basic things like school uniforms and shoes.


“Having access to fair advice is a part of the fight against debt and I’m hopeful Fair Finance will help people manage their money and get the advice they need to take control of their finances.”


Trust Thamesmead hopes more than 850 Thamesmead residents will use the service by 2015.
