FIREFIGHTERS tackled a blaze at a large shed last night (August 13) in Bexley.
London Fire Brigade was called at 6.12pm to reports of a derelict single storey industrial unit alight, in Manor Way.
Crews from Erith, Sidcup, Plumstead and Lee Green attended the scene with four fire engines and around 20 firefighters.
A stack of tyres next to the shed, which measured 25 metres by 20 metres, had caught on fire and the blaze spread.
There was 100 per cent fire damage to the tyres and 25 per cent damage to the shed.
The burning rubber sent dark smoke into the sky, which was visible from some parts of London.
Firefighters had the fire under control by 8.35pm.
The cause is under investigation.
