A YOUNG entrepreneur is hoping to "get Bexley on the map" with his new record label and recording studio.

Quadri Haruna, of Northall Road, Barnehurst, registered his company Qh Music two months ago and is now offering schools the chance to use his industry standard facilities for free.

The 20-year-old spent £5,000 on equipment and raised the cash himself through part-time work and savings.

Mr Haruna, a former Bexleyheath School student which is now Bexleyheath Academy, said: "There is really nothing musically going on in Bexley except Danson Festival.

"When I was in secondary school I didn't really get the opportunity to experience anything like this.

"I have set it up to help students and bring sound to Bexley."

He added: "They can come in the studio and record if they wish, and we will develop them as an artist so they can perform at their prom."

Mr Haruna studied advanced music technology at North West Kent College in Dartford and is now in his final year at Canterbury Christ Church University studying music industry management.

He said: "We are scouting for local talent for the label.

"Over the next few years I'm hoping we will have a few established artists from Bexley and can branch out from there.

"We want to get Bexley on the map.

"I know there are a lot of good singers and instrument players. We want them to understand there's hope in the music industry."

Members of the public can pay a fee to use the recording studio.
