A 32-YEAR-OLD man who racially abused police has been sentenced to eight weeks in jail.
Martin Weaver, of Domingo House, in Leda Road, Plumstead, was found guilty of a racially aggravated public order offence and sentenced yesterday (August 9) at Bromley Magistrates’ Court.
Four detectives from Bexley went to Weaver’s home on May 25 to execute a search warrant to look for suspected stolen goods.
Weaver arrived at the premises shortly afterwards and was verbally aggressive.
He was arrested for using threatening, abusive and racially insulting words towards the officers who believed that unlawful violence would be used against them.
Weaver, who was already on a suspended sentence for two counts of common assault committed in October last year, was further sentenced to 16 weeks in prison, making a total of 24 weeks.
Bexley’s Detective Chief Inspector Gary Holmes said: "This type of racially aggravated behaviour towards police or any other individual is unacceptable and will not be tolerated.
"All allegations of racial crime will be robustly investigated."
