GREENWICH University’s Husayn Rosowsky was part of the Team GB Olympics British fencing team which narrowly lost to world champions Italy in the quarter-finals of the men’s foil team event on Sunday.
In the singles event earlier last week, the second year Business student lost his opening round match 15-8 to Tunisian Mohamed Samandi after needing treatment for a thigh injury.
It was a sterling effort and had the BBC’s commentators tipping Rosowsky for great things in the future.
He said: “The university has been amazing, my lecturers have been really supportive.
“None of my friends could get tickets for my events but they were watching on television.
“The Games were great. I didn’t get the results I wanted but I’m still young.
“I was carrying an injury going into the singles event but the result wasn’t all down to that.
“Myself and my team-mate James Davis are staying in the athletes’ village until the end of the Games.
“It’s brilliant, our flat overlooks the stadium. The village is superb.
“There are loads of things to do here and the dining facilities are incredible, with food from all over the world.”
