OLYMPIC organisers say they may be able to move some of the barriers which have led to Greenwich businesses being cordoned off from Games spectators.

There were 50,000 people at Greenwich Park for yesterday's cross-country day, but businesses say that metal fencing and over-zealous stewarding has actually seen their trade plummet.

Asked about the issue at a LOCOG press conference today, director of communications and public affairs Jackie Brock-Doyle said: "We're talking to the Greenwich Market traders at the moment to see what we can do about moving those safety barriers around the site.

"We had some good meetings with them yesterday and we continue to work with them."
