The Greenwich & Bexley Community Hospice Lottery celebrated its third year on July 27 with a series of Hospice shop events and celebrations in Greenwich and Bexley.

The weekly Hospice lottery was first drawn three years ago to raise much-needed funds towards the £19,000 daily running costs of the Hospice.

Rachel Williams from the Hospice team said: "Our weekly lottery currently has 1850 regular playing members. In its first three years the Hospice Lottery has generated over £330,000.”

Staff at the Abbey Wood-based Hospice, which provides free specialist end of life care and support services for terminally ill adults living in Greenwich and Bexley, hope to recruit over 1000 new lottery members over the next twelve months.

“We’re hoping for 3000 playing members before the end of our third year,” said Rachel.

Lottery players help provide Greenwich & Bexley Community Hospice with a regular income which in turn benefits those who are suffering with a life-limiting illness. It also provides an opportunity to win a top prize of £1000 every week, plus a weekly rollover prize of up to £10,000.

The prize fund comes from the sale of lottery tickets, with the remaining money raised going towards the daily running costs of the Hospice.

Anyone over the age of 16 can sign up to the weekly draw at £2 per week.

Lottery Gift subscriptions are also available and supporters can purchase single lottery tickets from any of the 14 Hospice shops, including at the Hospice situated at 185 Bostall Hill, Abbey Wood.
