THOUSANDS of people descended upon Blackheath Common to enjoy the Olympic opening ceremony’s carnival atmosphere.
The village’s big screen and fair ground attracted a massive crowd who arrived with picnics and booze to enjoy the likes of Rowan Atkinson and Daniel Craig as they introduced London 2012 in style.
New cross resident Jemma Thomas, 28, said: “We had a great time.
“Blackheath was packed with people getting in the spirit of the games.
“There must have been thousands of people here and the atmosphere was great - although I think they could have done with a few more toilets.”
