"STAY safe for summer" is the message from Kent Police as the force launches its seasonal crime reduction campaign.

The initiative, which runs from July to September, focuses on burglary, theft, alcohol related violence, metal theft and anti-social behaviour.

Officers will be working hard over the Olympic period to make sure everyone who lives, visits or passes through the county can enjoy a safe and crime-free experience.

Chief Inspector Lee Russell said: ‘We want all residents and visitors to the county to stay safe this summer.

"The chances of being a victim of crime in Kent are low. However, we want criminals to know that the people of Kent are not easy targets."

He added: "With people spending time away on holiday or taking trips out to enjoy the summer and the Olympics we want them to think about making sure their home, vehicles and personal possessions are as secure as they can be."
