PENSIONERS at a Wilmington care home enjoyed getting ready for the Olympics by taking part in their own sports day.
Around 25 residents and staff at Emily Court, in Barn End Lane, took part in the mini-games, which involved a zimmer frame race, wheelchair egg and spoon race, giant skittles and a spoof Javelin event .
A mock torch relay set out from a housing scheme in Broadstairs, with residents travelling by car and lighting a torch in the garden of each scheme as they made their way to Emily Court.
Mayor of Dartford Councillor Ann Allen also made an appearance before participants finished the day with an awards ceremony and afternoon tea.
Manager of the home, Debbie Rye, said: "All the residents and staff who took part in the games had a lot of fun and the event went really well.
"We couldn't have wished for better weather."
