A SPECTACULAR display of BMX and skateboarding skills marked the opening of skatepark in Gravesend, which was helped by fundraising youngsters.
The £170,000 state-of-the-art park in Ordnance Road was part-funded by Gravesham Urban Sports Collective, who raised almost £7,000. Gravesham Council paid the rest and construction was carried out by specialists Freestyle and Medway builders Cliffe Construction.
The opening ceremony featuring exhibitions from professionals and workshops was organised by Kent Youth Services alongside King Ramps.
The ceremony was conducted by Mayor of Gravesham, Councillor Lyn Milner.
Gravesham Council leader, Councillor John Burden said: “This is a magnificent facility which we hope the youngsters will enjoy – and can enjoy all the more because they have contributed so much. Raising such a sum of money in these difficult times is no mean feat.”
