PENSIONERS are being asked to relive their memories of working in Deptford for a new drama project.
The London Bubble Theatre Company want to use their tales to create a new piece called From Docks To Desktops.
The show will aim to look at how working life has changed in South East London since the closure of the Surrey Commercial Docks in 1969.
Personal testimonies are now being collected from older generations, including people in Lewisham, and the play will be performed by members of the community next summer.
The company did a similar project last year, based on memories of the Blitz from people who were living and working around the Docks.
Bubble creative director Jonathan Petherbridge said: "The Grandchildren of the Blitz was a fantastic process, involving hundreds of local people in exploring what happened locally in living memory and leading to a great show. We want to find out more, and scratch beneath the surface."
