A DARTFORD teenager was rushed to hospital with knife wounds after a train fracas.

The 17-year-old was found with serious injuries at Gillingham train station yesterday evening.

He had been stabbed in the chest and abdomen.
Police were called to a fight involving a small group of men on board a London-bound train.

The train - the 6.24pm from Gillingham to London Charing Cross – was held at the station as British Transport Police and Kent Police attended.

The victim was treated by ambulance crews outside the station and rushed to Medway Maritime Hospital where he is reported to be in a stable but critical position.

The Kent Police helicopter was sent to search for suspects.

At 7pm, the helicopter team tweeted: “Search for suspects following a serious assault. Area cleared and enquiries continue.”

The station was closed for nearly seven hours while police gathered forensic evidence and was re-opened at 1.11am.

A BTP spokesman said: “We believe that up to three black men may have taken a taxi from Gillingham to south east London shortly after the stabbing took place.

“We would very much like to hear from any taxi driver or company in the Medway area, who undertook such a journey last night “
