BORIS the greyhound smashed track records as he finished his 233rd race at the Crayford Greyhound Track on Saturday (July 21).
Using racing name Lagile Soviet – but better known as Boris – he became the tracks all time race record holder, beating the previous record of 231 races set by Mega-Egg in 2007.
During his 233 races across a five year period, he knocked up an impressive 44 victories before retiring last month.
Assistant trainer Dave Stevens said: “When Boris arrived in our kennels from Ireland in June 2007, we had no idea he would go on to become such a special dog and achieve this outstanding level of performance.
“Boris is a real character - on his way home from racing he lets his trainer know meal time is due by barking when reaching the speed bumps on approach to his kennel.”
The average greyhound clocks up 100 races during its racing career, which usually spans between two and three years.
Lagile Soviet’s achievement was recognised with a presentation on the track.
