A WOMAN resident has died during a fire in a Blackheath sheltered housing development today (July 24).
The blaze took place at Bupa's Tudor Grange development on Westcombe Park Road at around 11.30am, which took place in a three-room flat on the ground floor.
A woman, who has not been named, died in the fire.
Managing director Simon Crewe said: "This was a tragic accident, and our thoughts are with the resident’s family at this very difficult time. She was a very well respected and much loved member of the local community at Tudor Grange.
"Our staff took swift action to make sure all other residents were safe, and we are very grateful to the fire service for their assistance.
"We thank our residents and their families for their support at this difficult time."
Ten firefighters from Greenwich and East Greenwich fire stations attended the scene, along with police.
The cause of the fire, which was under control by 12.06pm, is under investigation.
