A PENSIONER was found by neighbours "tied up" in her bedroom.
Police launched a murder investigation after a 76-year-old woman was discovered by neighbours at her home in New Acres Road in Thamesmead at around 6.25pm on Sunday (July 22).
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
She has been named locally as Pam Wheeler, although police are attempting to find a next of kin so await formal identification.
A post-mortem examination was scheduled to be carried out at Greenwich mortuary this afternoon as police investigate and believe it could have been a burglary gone wrong.
Susan Bradford, 57, whose daughter lives nearby, said: "She was an old lady. Her back door was open and her neighbours went in and found her dead and tied up.
"It is a shame. Terrible. It is really frightening when it is right on your doorstep as well."
No arrests have been made.
