ETHICAL, not-for-profit banking is coming to Bexley.
Greenwich Credit Union, which has been running since 1998, is expanding into Bexley to provide its services to people living or working in the borough.
President Alan Stevens said it is an “ethical, not-for profit alternative to high street banks and payday lenders”.
GCU offers savings accounts with an annual dividend and loans with a fixed 1 per cent monthly rate. In order to get a loan, you must have saved at least £10 a month for three months.
Mr Stevens said: “Times are really tough at the moment, and a large number of local people are looking for an alternative way to save and manage their money. They need look no further – the credit union is a great way to save, and a good option if you then need to borrow funds.”
