WOULD you fancy having this at the back of your garden?

Probably not, but according to the University of Greenwich, which has now put up three storeys of portacabins to form a tower taller than houses, it doesn't matter.

The university says the tower, which backs on to a row of King William Walk homes, is "essential" for its £76m architecture school development.

As News Shopper reported last week, residents were left fuming when the first two storeys went up - and now a third has been added.

Mum-of- three Helen Neilly, 38, said they were now in discussions to get a light survey to show the effects of the building.

Ways to screen the portacabins, so builders cannot gaze into people's bedrooms, are also under discussion.

A university spokesman said: "We do appreciate neighbours' feelings and the contractor, Osborne, has taken steps to ensure that nearby houses and gardens will not be overlooked from these cabins."
